Extreme sports

Extreme sports are sports disciplines that require extraordinary skills, a lot of courage and ability to act in risky conditions, including those of risking life. Practicing these sports involve strong emotions, dealing with extreme external and psychological difficulties. In extreme sports competitions it is not the human that is the biggest rival, but the elements of earth, water and air. Later, in most of these disciplines, sports rivalry and breaking records are introduced. The most important in practicing these sports are individualism, willingness to overcome difficulties and to feel strong emotions. It is giving the best of yourself and having the chance to experience something extraordinary. Acquiring a new skill is often possible thanks to the so called “master”.

The development of disciplines includes the individual involvement of the sportsmen. We can see that in most cases, people try to acquire skills that are suitable for many disciplines. These disciplines are constantly evolving because of technological progress in the production of equipment and thanks to crossing the limits of human abilities.

  1. View Skydive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N9t5qOSzCU I think this is the most insane and extreme sports. I would like to bungee jump off a bridge and jump with a parachute. I think extreme sports give so much adrenaline that it's worth a try, I heard that extreme sports are like drugs suck at it. Sorry but that extreme sports must have a lot of money. I certainly will do something extreme:)

  2. To be honest I am not really eager to try any extreme sports and I am not addicted to any of them, but I would like to try wingsuit flying. Just have a look, doesn't it look interesting? http://www.extreme.banzaj.pl/Wingsuit-Flying-2877.html

  3. I think that freestyle skiing or even speedway are extreme sports and they are very dangerous. I believe that base jumping must be great, I would love to try it once :-) I've got a nice link, although it's not a very serous one:

  4. Everything is worth doing it if later you have a satisfaction. I don’t practice any extreme sports but maybe someday I will, who knows. Nowadays there’re lots of things you can do to kill the boredom in your life, but of course it costs. And I think that’s the main reason why so few people try such disciplines, because it is very important to try it with someone who’s experienced and also with a good equipment- and that’s really expensive.

  5. I guess rock climbing with no equipment is a extreme sport. I don't really feel the need for a lot of adrenaline so I'm not really interested in practising any of these. Extreme sports look spectacular but somehow noone is talking about how many people lost their health or life in the promo videos.

  6. I really love to practice extreme sports... I love adrenaline. The best extreme sport for me is snowboarding in deep snow on wild slopes. Kitesurfing is also very exciting and you should definetelly try it. Great place to start it is in Chałupy.

    Snowboarding I'm lovin it! :)

  7. Snowborad is the best I agree. The most extreme way of snowboarding you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyTqnmJSv-A&feature=related This is about people who are taken by helicopter on the tops of the highest mountains and then they slide down almost on vertical snow wall. It must be fun! and very dangerous also..
I like rock climbing as well. You need to be very concetrate and calm but also full of energy. You can watch some pictures and movies from travels of David Kaszlikowski (one of the best polish climbers) on his site http://verticalvision.aranea.com.pl/davidkaszlikowski.com/
This is really worth to see!!

According to rules of my NNW insurance, horse-riding is an extreme sport. And most people think, that wandering in mountains in winter, sleeping ina a tent and cooking on fire is extreme too. I don't think it is true; it is a kind of hobby, not extremum ;)

Does anyone of you practice extreme sports?

I practice horse-riding and i like mountains, with sleeping in a tent in winter, but in my opinion it's not an extreme sport. I don't practice it because i like the thrill of risk. to be sure, i try to minimize the risk. I like nature, that's all.

Do you think that the satisfaction is worth the risk undertaken while practicing these sports?

In my opinion practicing pure risk because of adrenaline (bungee etc.) is stupid. I always try to minimize the risk and never try something which is too risky, i.e. i don't go into mountains when the weather is bad.

  10. There are few more. Whitewater kayaking or free-diving. Also Paragliding: “A paraglider is a free-flying, foot-launched aircraft. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing, whose shape is formed by its suspension lines and the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing.” But in my opinion ‘parkour’ is the most crazy sport. Groups of people are running through the whole city jumping everywhere, from roof to another roof as quick as possible.
As I found it’s a French way of going from one place to another and the main goal is to move from one point to another as quickly and efficiently as possible.
If you haven’t ever heard about that before I would suggest you “Yamakasi” movie. There is a sort of people who cannot imagine their life without a bit of adrenaline. And until they don’t harming any other I’m respecting that style.
I couldn’t agree with my previous writer. To practice kind of extreme sports doesn’t have to be reach. It’s depend on the way of sporting. For example.
I’m really keen of free-skiing, free ride skiing or freestyle skiing. Maybe not so extreme one like jumping from helicopter on the top of the mountain, but… going somewhere off-road where nobody was before. That’s quite thrill. Going “fast and furious” between naked rocks on the “fresh” snow. Unfortunately you have to have good insurance, of course. And obviously you have to be sober.
I would like to present you my favorite extreme movie, “That’s it, That’s all”. You can find parts on YouTube but whole movie is WORTH to see.

  11. Do you think that occasional sex without condom is an extreme sport? I'm just kidding;)

BTW, I like extreme sports and adrenalin connected with them, too :). Recently I like wake-board a lot. Unfortunately in our latitude it is difficult to do it often in warm nice temperature... But winter holidays is also a good moment for pleasureful spot like ski-racing on the steep slops;)

  12. Hmm other sports? For example, mountain biking, climbing, PaintBall. Mountain biking is a sport that consists of riding bicycles off-road, over rough terrain, using Specially adapted mountain bikes. Some also believe the sports are kayaking rivers or bungee jumping, but for me thair are not. I think that in some cases, the satisfaction is worth the risk, but not always, because sometimes it is simply madness.

  13. Another "extreme" sport that I have heard of recently is people having sex with others who are HIV+. Personally I like snowboarding which can easily be considered extreme especially when you or go off the prepared slopes. The satisfaction is definitely worth the risk - no risk no fun.

  14. When I was younger, much loved extreme sports, especially skating, skateboarding and BMX riding. Every day I spent half of the day on sports because I had less responsibilities than today.

What I like best in extreme sports? Adrenaline, which accompanies them. It is a unique opportunity to feel the taste of life and consider how much more you can still afford.

3)I think that on certainly there is some person who like risk and fell adrenalin but as I mentioned any sport isnt worth waste the health.

  16. I think you missed rock climbing. That's the only that crosses my mind now :) I practised rock climbing but now due to the fact I work and study at the same time I can't do it any more..

Do you think that the satisfaction is worth the risk undertaken while practicing these sports?
Yes, and I am very certain about that :) The satisfaction is huge. Even a small victory over a rock climbing wall is a great feeling. The best thing about it is that when you are 'glued' to the wall, you only focus on the way up. A cool thing is that rock climbing requires not only strength, but even more importantly flexibility and stamina.

You really have to try it!
