Movie or a book

Movie or a book

The biggest dilemma for people to

day is to either read a book or to watch a movie based on it.
Big movie producers advertise strongly just to get people to the movie theaters to their newest production. That is why they put out posters, billboards, flyers and brochures about those movies.
Book Editor’s are using the same techniques to get our attention. It seems like an endless competition.
Today’s revolution in technology all

ows us to watch movies in 3D, on huge screens (like IMAX theater) and in big cinema complexes.

I think, both books and movies are needed in our life and it is only up to us which one we prefer better.Nevertheless I think that books are very special and they create unique atmosphere while we read them. They were present in our live since ancient times. We loved reading them

by the fire in a warmth of our household, which we still enjoy doing. They introduce us to a magical world that the author is tiring to show us.
Book are also small and convenient compared to big TV's. You can take the with you everywhere you go and put them anywhere around the house.

same novel again but in a way that someone else sow it. Most of the time

it is very surprising for us, and new technology and special effects make it even more interesting and stunning. Sometimes a movie sounds better than a book itself.

Sadly nowadays people read less and less books than before, that is why we are so grateful for the movie producers that they try to bring alive magical world trapped in a book and expose it to us on a big screens.

  1. 1. Some movies are better and some are worse. I don't see any correlation between books adaptations and films which are nor based on books.
    2. I truly enjoy The Chronicles of Narnia realised by Walden Media and Disney. These are the books of my childhood and I'm really glad that their adaptations are such good and valuable movies.
I loved last pictures based on "Dorian Gray's portrait" and "Brideshead revisited" too.
    3. Why should we choose between reading and watching if we can have both? I think that cinema can't replace literature, these are two arts which can coexist and complete each other nowadays. When I read a good novel and I see there is a film based on it I'm happy to go and watch this picture.

  2. 1. I'm a big fan of reading a book and seeing a movie afterwards. It's fun to see how other people imagine a picture for the same words from the book.
    2. I've seen "Solaris" with George Clooney recently. This movie is based on just one plot from the book but the visuals are simply astonishing. It was a real pleasure to see that "thinking" planet.
    3. I don't have anything more to add, because Asia Engel said pretty much everything.

  3. Some adaptations are good, others not so much (The Witcher for example). Of course we can not expect a movie to follow every plot in the book. Most movies are 2-3 hrs long so the story has to be trimmed.
Angels & Demons movie is a good adaptation of a Dan Brown book.
I think reading a book is far better than watching a movie because it works on your imagination. Movies are good to watch with somebody to spend some time.

  4. Movies do not contain all the information that are contained in the book, for example, descriptions of nature. Although movies based on books are interesting and useful for lazy people who do not want to read texts at school, but must know the subject.

I have read books that resultied with films, such as The Twilight Saga, Prince of Persia, or reading such as The Spring, The Deluge, or Pan Tadeusz.

In my opinion if you have time it is better to read a book than watch a movie based on it, because it works on our imagination and develops our brains. What is more we can even for a moment get away from reality and become a favorite book character.

  5. 1) I do not have any negative opinion about that. There should be an also alternative for those who are unable to read something.
The reason is that sometimes you don’t have enough time to read every book that you want to. So, watching “book based movies” it’s an easier way.
    2) Yes, I’ve watched few of them. In example Star Wars or The Godfather. But I notice there are couple of movies that are even better then the books. Forrest Gump – I’ve been watching that movie since I was a child few times per year. It’s my favorite one. Suddenly I decided to read the book…and that was my mistake. In my opinion book is terrible. The first half of the book is quite interesting but the rest is so boring and exaggerated.
    3) Firstly - read a book and then watch the movie. We can also listen a book…

  6. I think that before going for a movie based on some book you should at first read it. Mainly books are better than the movies, because there are less details, some scenes are cut etc. I don’t have any example of the movie which is a great replica of book. I think that both (reading and then watching) are good, because you see the differences and sometimes you prefer the shorter story showed in a movie.

  7. I don't know why but I prefer to watch the movie first than to read it. It is strange, I know but this is the way I am. Probably it is easier to watch movie adaptation on the screen than read the whole book in 2 hours;). But in my case it's happened very often that after watching a good movie based on some book story I red a book with big involvement and interest.

  8. In my opinion having the option of both watching the film and reading the book upon which the film was based is a good thing. This way you can compare them which can be very interesting. Reading the book stimulates your imagination more than watching a film, but if it is well made it can be just as entertaining as reading and certainly not a waste of time.

  9. Sometimes movies based on books are better but it's not a rule. I think mentioned earlier film the Godfather is great but in my opinion book is as good as movie. So it's depends on many things, but mostly on directors and writers:) sometimes ones are better than others..
I don't know if reading is better than watching movies, I can just express my opinion. I like to read but there are some books which are "unreadable"
for me like one of the required readings at high school written by H.Sienkiewicz. So I rather prefered to watch the movie at that time.

  10. I prefer reading books. They make your imagine works and every person in the world will see the fable differently. This is the most important aspect of reading.

When you watch the film we don't need to imagine yourself too much, everything is made for us by the director

  11. 1)I like very much to see movies based on books ,because instead reading book I can go for example with my friends to the cinema and watch it ,of course the movies never replace book but sometimes I havent time to read book and I prefer to see movie.

2)In my opinien the best replicas of a book was ,,Harry Potter, movies ,it was really simmilar to books, there wasnt many luck and the actors plaied very good their parts.

3)As I meantioned ,Better choice it is read the book, but no always we have enough time to do it so we can go to cinema or in watch tv some movies.

  12. I think it's great that books inspire producers and directors. Thanks to books we have seen amazing film productions. I find The Silence of the Lambs, 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Shining to be the best.

In my opinion after reading a great book it's nice to hear another person's opinion about it. You can either talk to a friend who has read it, or you can watch a film if there exists one. Aside from the fact that it's very common that even though the book is great a film based on it happens to be very unpopular I still enjoy most.

  13. Many of films based on books are very dissapointed. Directors omit many topics due to time limitations. But I think the film that really gives the mood of the book is The Hours. And it seems pointless to me to watch a film instead or before reading a book.

  14. 1. It depends on the movies. I prefer to watch movies when it comes to feature films because it saves you time and eyesight. Particularly, in order to keep pace with technological developments in my work I have all the time to read scientific and technical manuals.

    2. I really liked Tolkiens movie adaptations, Harry Potter and Devil Wears Prada.

    3. For me it is better to wach a movie. It would be difficult to read a 400 page book in 2 hours whiteout getting stressed.
