Part 1

In two previous presentations I focused on different genres of music (yes, it was long time ago and I, myself don't remember what I wrote about) and many human oddities believing in religion not connected with concrete recession of faith, culture adhesion, but with some kind of product - apple, starbucks etc. (lately I even found out that Apple icons influence the fans in a similar way that symbols of cult influence religious people!? You'll find out more about it in
here.). So let's treat my current presentation as a supplement to the previous ones. What comes out after linking both subjects? The answer is simple.

How does TYPICAL representative of the group look like and behave.

So as the very first go people of techno music and disco polo. In regard of their variety and diversity I'll focus on them separately.

Techno.. genre like other ones. Not really ambitious or expressive. It doesn't have a melody line, particular rhythm or anything. "Song" can last even an hour or two, but it doesn't matter in which moment you turn it on, because you still think you're in the same minute you were..What does typical sosh look like?

(demotywatory.pl) - description available under the picture

Techno fans are also known for their dedication to white gloves and for sometimes wearing a vacuum cleaner on their backs and pretending to be NASA astronauts.

How to dance? Nothing easier than that!

But there's one thing about techno fans you can't deny- even if the night was tough and there's no sight of the end of a party :

(youtube.com)

, they are still fighting just like...well exactly, like who or what?!

Purportedly techno music helps to find a connection between generations:

(youtube.com)

This is actually an advantage. In such a situation maybe it's worth clicking "Like" button?

Disco polo. You can say that this genre has a lot in common with techno. What exactly? Basic music, naive lyrics, terrible performers, lack of originality. Wikipedia also claims that "Currently professionalising of disco polo is in progress"- whatever it means. ;)

Still the most important are people..I don't know if you're tough enough to watch the whole thing, but try:

(youtube.com)

As you can see to create such "music" you don't have to be very pretty, well dressed, you don't need a big amount of money for a video clip, cars and other gadgets. It seems that you don't need to have absolutely anything. For sure you don't need a talent. In conclusion there's one thought. What is it? Everyone can be such an "artist". But does everyone have enough bravery and strength to do something like this in front of the whole nation? I don't think so. On the other hand, how is it that..

Questions:

1. What do you think about these two genres? Is it really that bad as I think?
2. Which style of techno dance do you like most? (from the movie above)
3. Do you really know disco polo songs but you don’t listen to it?

  3. I have to admit that I used to like techno, let say house music, about ten years ago, when I started to study. Nowadays I'd rather listen to "chill out" or Latino music such as afro-brazil, salsa and so on.
What do I think about those two genres? The only skill that you have to posses is a rhythm and some stimulants. If you have got it, you are ready for a party!;))

All "dancing-styles" from the movie was funny.

I can't remind any disco polo song... What a pity that I am not a fun of this kind of music. If I were, I could be a kind of connoisseur in this topic.

  4. Cute presentation and amusing videos :D Actually I've never been a fan of any of these genres but I can understand that techno can be attractive because it's so trans. However I don't listen to disco polo, I can't say I don't know anything about. I owe it to my neighbors who like karaoke parties. Oh, how do they sing! The funny aspect of the situation is that I haven't seen my neighbors for years, I could only recognize their voices in night. But one day I heard one of the disco-polo voices outside, so I turned back and... now I know how they look like :) I believe they must transform when party-time is coming...

  5. Oups, I forget to add that my favorite style from the movies above is definitely "the Babcia style". I suppose you meant only styles from the first movie, but Babcia rules so I hope you understand my choice.

  6. haha nice! I think you should win this competition for the best presentation;)

What do you think about these two genres? Is it really that bad as I think?

Well I think these two genres exist because not all of us feel the rhytm, you know what I mean? it's just easy and fun, you just have to learn several moves so you can repeat it again and again..
and you know what, after I read your presentation I felt like I want to try it, I don't think so my dance will take longer than 10 minutes but it could be fun, no I meant it will be fun, definitely;)

Which style of techno dance do you like most? (from the movie above)

:) I definitely like the most 'lonely farmer in tha farmland' but the truth is I fell in love with all of these styles, which guy from first video showed :) now I feel ready to try it.

Do you really know disco polo songs but you don’t listen to it?

I really don't listen to disco polo but who will believe me.. and who cares anyway:) about texts I think I remember a few phrases from the couple of songs like these. I had a classmates in High School who listened to disco polo very often, they loved it. So whether I wanted or not I had to listen it all day in school.. I remember one about 'nearby neighbor' or something like that.

  7. techno might be good for a while but then you either quit or lose hearing. i understand why people like these genres, though i prefer other things i don't mind people liking them. Disco polo is funny:)

  9. 1.These two genres are not my favorite. Cartainly there are different, but is it bad?? It's depends on person who whill ask about this topic. For me there are neutral.
2.Does it's a techno style?! no way! But if I have choose I think that 'lonely farmer' - I would like to see this performance at some party;)
    3.I think so…

  10. Perfect styles :) Well common on our Polish parties. White socks in pair with sandals, ironed carefully sport-wear clothes - and who tells that we aren't fashioned.
Actually there are more of them. Do you know the famous disco style: "krasnal ogrodowy" -garden gnome way?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97jE41qlkmU

    Yeah, it's even worst.
About Disco Polo. That's my favorite saying: Everybody knows the words - nobody listens. Actually me too. When I sow somewhere on TV, I quickly changed the channel. But when we are on a party and we hear famous part - nobody is able to resist.

Don't be sad about techno fans absence - comments downtime is coming :)

  11. To tell the truth I listen to every kind of music.
Do not focus on one species, but the songs that I like, regardless of the contractor and the type of music.
Techno and discopolo theoretically listen, I have some songs that I turn on when I'm on positive mood only for fun.

  12. I agree that these two kinds of music are not too ambitious performances. I think the core of creating this kind of music-is a fast "bit" and a simple form.
However, this style of music has to be unique, if stations as viva delivers as entire program dedicated to disco music: "disco more than anything" :)

Today, people are attitude to mass culture that is what all have and listen "to be cool" ... hmm, but where is the individuality and originality?
Techno style, perhaps previously more popular and so loved by young people who only wants to play and it make me think of "being in some trance". I don't imagine myself waving hands for 10 or 20 minutes on one song.
But maybe i should go for techno-event and try to combine "jogging” and “sphere" in one track – it could be the most funny episode in my life :)

  13. I really admire when people criticize on things they don’t really know much about. For example you write about techno music. As I know something about it, I will try to explain it to you. Techno has many different subgenres which all are connected to many different subcultures. How can you tell if something is not ambitious or expressive if you only listened (I suppose) to some popular “techno” music on MTV. Which is not really even techno. Most of these tracks are really house or dance music. There are also underground techno genres. I realize it can be rough for some people to listen to such a hard music, but it doesn’t mean you can put all these people together with ones who listen to commercial songs. In each kind of music you have some more ambitious genres and less ambitious ones. No melody line? No rhythm. Techno is all about that. You can write it doesn’t have a hidden agenda, as mostly it has no lyrics. But no rhythm? Please… I also think it’s quite expressive. Producers can play live acts in front of people creating every time something different, expressing personal emotions. I don’t really recover listening to “songs” which last over an hour. What you could heard was a set or a liveact. Sets are played by djs and what they really are is a mix of different tracks (usually in similar style, genre) played one after another. You don’t really hear the end of the track if you’re not familiar with such a music cause tracks are played in the same speed and match their phrases. Person in the picture looks more like a fan of dance or house music. You can hear such music in Poland on sunrise festival or some popular clubs. In Poland we have our own name for such music which is manieczki (real name of this genre is stupid house). There you can meet such people, see white gloves etc., but if you would go to a proper party I don’t think you would meet someone like that.
REAL techno is what you can hear under this link:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWtlefWNIv4
It’s a classic acid techno track. Please next time, be more specific.

  14. I do not agree that these kinds of music are so terrible. If I do not listen to that does not mean that it is bad. I understand that others have a taste. On the other hand I do not know what is so attractive about the techno. As about Disco Polo, it's easier for me to understand the phenomenon. These are simple text, whichin particular for those who are drunken are catchy. In combination with the rhythmic music, are a hit at parties and festive weddings. Even though for everyday do not listen to the DP, I know a lot of texts. I am not ashamed of it. I think that people are listening to your taste, and prefer this than, for example, Behemoth.
In the the movie I liked the most, "Sphere". It is a style that very long time since I've seen live. Glad I saw this, of course, not for admire but for a better the humor.

  15. Man, I really love your presentation :D !
But unfortunately I have to disagree with some of you opinions. Firsty all you wrote is about stereotypes. You can not show person listening to "techno" in one simple picture. Going your way, we can also show negative aspects of regge, rock, or pop musik fans.
Secondly there is no such a thing like "techno". You can say about house, trance, dubstep or other kind of electronic music.
And last one who do not know the melody of "jestes szalona". This kind of music is not created to listening it all the time in house. This music was created to make people fun. And in my opinion after alcohol it plays his role as it was intended to do. Everyone will be happy and look with smile on speakers ;).

    2. I dislike all techno dance.. They're not in my type
3.As at first reply, I didn't hear music so I don't hear any texts at song..

  18. 1. In my opinion techno is profanation of music. For me it is senseless mix of sounds, disco polo at least has text.
    2. What do I like most? I think it is that I don't have to listen to it at all.
    3. I remember from my youngster days only Shazza.

  19. True techno is a heavy type of music. When I listen it a long time it's tiring for me :) My friends do not listen it. Often people who are listening techno are received as strange as same as disco polo fans.

From your movies the best one is the dancing grandmother ;) She have a lot of positive energy within :)

Yes I know a lot of disco polo songs because it's popular on our parents events. I know such songs as "Miała matka syna" or "Jesteś szalona" but the best one is this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKbTC8Z_EGc !!
