Part 2: People, Apple, Starbucks and cheap clothes from China with the label

What is it about? I don't really know. Maybe it's because people treat trademarks like sanctity?

(scaryideas.com)

Probably lots of you guys know people, who upload on Facebook their photos from Starbucks, wearing Burberry scarf from China every hour via Facebook mobile for iPhone...and FOR SURE they don't look like people from above picture from 80's..Closer to the truth will be :

(because of the weather, the scarf stayed in a wardrobe)

Since we are reminded what a typical (I also recommend you and article about 7 typical iphone users ) representative of contemporary young generation looks like, let's try to get to know their music and the way of spending free time.
Internet shows, that the highest popularity has of course Justin Bieber. (it's not so surprising though)

(youtube.com)

Next one is Rebecca with her smash Friday:

(youtube.com)

There are also Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift and other Disney stars..but not so influential anymore.
About the free time, similarly to the videos I gave you, young people spend it between tables in Apple store, drinking coffee in Starbucks or on eBay, looking for very branded clothes with a good(achievable) price.

Can all of this be called a phenomenon? I think yes. Nay, for some of them it's almost the same, or even more than religion or a lifestyle. Nowadays a usual walk along the Nowy Świat isn't a usual walk for young people. Everything's about showing off. To be noticed by the others. Sometimes, while seeing such a situation, there's one question that comes to my mind. Are they dressed or maybe disguised for someone/something else that they aren't and probably never would if not for the media and surrounding influence?

Questions:
- What do you think about Justin Bieber? Is he really talented..?
- Why people are so weird? Why do they like to show off?

  1. I haven't heard any song of Justin Bieber yet, but I know he exists (I know some guys from early classes in primary school :)Still, it's not enough to make opinion about his possible talent. I don't feel too much pressure to look for his videos so it might be long before I will see one.

People show off for ages, that's nothing new. If there is something worth of consideration, it's their attitude to brands. We are a very commercial society, addicted to unnecessary gadgets and spending our time in shopping centers. Money is the only god for masses, more then ever I'm afraid.

  2. I haven't heard anything about Justin Biber so far. So I don't feel like judging his talent.

I can not totally agree with Asia. People like to boast and show off in general, but nowadays it's a kind of obsession. Almost all youths, students and young corporate employs want to show off to show their status, I guess! As I remember, few (over a dozen;) years ago it wasn't so common to show off with very expensive gadgets and so exclusive, branded cloths. It seems to me that young people were more modest... It looks like that money can buy everything and this is really weird...

  3. well as Asia and Kniaz I really don't know him very good, in fact I've just found out recently that he's a singer..

and about showing off, I can agree with both of us. I think people always liked to show off. It's just human nature (sounds like Michael Jackson's song right?:) We are very strange creatures, we need others to feel completed. We're sociable and like to share everything with people who surround us. However as kniaz wrote I think it begins to be an obsession in some groups of society especially among teens. It's frightening that some of us think that things create our personality so without them we would be nothing. How terrible is that way of thinking.

  4. I do not know much about Justin Timberlake. Only he is a young singer who has many loyal fans. But I do not understand his fascination with his person. It seems to me that this is another "product" which, thanks to a good promotion it sells well. Lady Gaga Just as it is not a great talent. In my opinion, such behavior is caused by the amount of information we face every day. To be noticed, whether in TV, radio, Internet, must be different than everyone else. Or on the contrary be a small part of something huge, how to be a user of the iphone.

  5. it's all very poor, but what do ya want, that's what the stupid teenagers want. is justin bieber an artist?

what do you think? has he ever created anything? no.
he does what he's told to. he's a performer. no art, just craft. besides, what he sings is too poor to be called art

  6. Like most people here, I also don't know lot about him… I know that Justin Bieber exists and that's all I know - I don;t know any one of his songs - because he sings right?

I agree with s8939 that showing of is just human nature.

  7. Yeah, me too. I've heard something about him but nothing special - anything to point my attention. I don't want to care about such things. Those stars appear unexpectedly and quickly disappear.

My opinion is straight and simple. When you are 'empty'/blank - simply dumb, you have nothing to put other attention. So you have to use external, artificial boosters (adjuvants) like Apple INC stuff, Starbucks cups...
Everybody likes to show off sometimes. Not only kids do.
In example: men and their cars.
Everybody of us wants to drive a cool car sometimes - I can bet with all of you guys :) From time to time, drive just to make others jealous.

  8. 1) I don't know Justin Bieber, I am not interested about this figure, it is possible that I heard on the radio some of his songs, but I didn't pay attention about it. The only thing was I heard about this person was a lot of jokes.
    2) I don't know why, but I sometimes wonder about it. But now, I gave up, mayby "free choice" allows people to do ridiculous things. But thinking in the subject of strange people about Justin Bieber, the case is simple, he is Canadian. Just kidding.

  9. What do I think of Justin Bieber? It's difficult for me to judge his talent because I don't actively follow his career. I think that nowadays people often prefer to do a show than to seek a real talent.

I don't really know what to reply to the other question - why are people so weird. I think if everyone was the same, life would be pretty boring. Some people act weird, other people judge them for it, but it doesn't make them any more special. I think that everyone should live as they want to and shouldn't look back at others. If some people decide to show off by carrying Starbucks cups around, they probably have their reasons, maybe they think it gives them prestige in their social group. If it's important for them to do it, I don't mind at all and I wish them all the best. As a side note I'm gonna ad that in USA Starbucks is just another coffee chain, noone sees it as something exclusive to the bold and beautiful people :)

Everything depends on the society we live in.

  10. Here I must agree with you. When I sometimes look at people I think we are living in very odd times. It’s what tv and the Internet is doing with young people minds And it’s all coming to Poland now… Justin Bieber is a good example of what media can do to people. He’s not creating music (if we can call it that way). Everything is done for him. I think even his voice isn’t reel. It’s enhanced with thousands of filters and other effects to make it sound in a good way. He’s just showing his face and young people fall for it. It’s a similar situation with wearing designer clothes. People do it to gain respect, be emerged and because other people do that.

  11. Next part of great and funny presentation.
In this one I have to agree with you in 100%. I really do not understand why people are trying to show themselves in such a wired ways. One the other hand in some regions person with iphone will be treated as a poseur, but in fact it is really great celular with fastest os. The same can be with starbuck, maybe they make coffee really tasty, I do not know, I have never been there.

Going back to Justin Bieber. I think he is one of 74723479 other teenagers trying to sing the songs. This is unfortunately the role of showbusiness. You have to be lucky to be seen by someone else. it is not on 100% ofcourse but still.

  12. if it comes to Justin Bieber I'm not very familiar with this topic, but I think the teens behind him completely mad.
Maybe because it is a good age at the right time ...
Its phenomenon is an example for people who have all kinds of talents to publish it on you tube:)

  13. About Justin Bieber, I know him, but I didn't hear any his songs, because I'm hard hearing. But! I don't have any respect for him, because he is too young to be a pro artist and he don't have any experience with REAL music. What about Bobby McFerrin, Elton John, and some other olders artist..
I agree with Aszys that "Justin Bieber's phenomenon" and other kind tallents first published at youtube and later on world..

  14. 1. I am not really on the time with modern popstars, but as far as my nieces says that it is embarassing for her generation to listen to him, they prefer Selena Gomez. By the way they are a couple.
    2. That lies in human nature are different and that is why we may seem weird to each other.
