The world of advertising. PART I

I would like to dedicate my presentation to showing you the world of advertising. The number of goods and services available in today's world is enormous, and commercials surround us most of the time. Nowadays, advertising agencies try to draw our attention to the brand they are promoting and trying to make us remember it. The modern society seems to begin feeling exhausted and beleaguered by advertising.

We are starting to push away everything that reminds us of advertising, coming back home after a long day of work we throw away a dozen of leaflets and then pick up the phone and listen to

amazing offers, tailored just for us and our needs, by internet service providers, telecom companies, or cable TV. After 20 minutes, feeling defeated, we put the phone dow

n wanting to watch a long anticipated movie on TV. But the movie turns out to be nearly impossible to watch as every few minutes it is stopped just so we can be presented a multitude of ketchups, washing powders, pralines, car insurances or puddings. Advertising has to defend itself and it takes more and more uncommon forms, trying to surprise us or make us laugh.

Have you ever heard of ambient advertising? It's an unusual, non-standard form of advertising. It tries to surprise us with a new, original approach, serving a purpose of entertainment or even art; it uses everyday life associations.

Below, I would like to give you a few examples of that kind of advertising:

Superman movie ad.

Are you one of the people that enjoy adverts, or do you prefer to avoid them?

Why? Which of these commercials would be the most likely to convince you to buy the product?

  1. It is not possible to avoid ads. It is everywhere, whether in newspapers, on radio, television, the internet, the streets are full of them. Therefore, it seems to me that currently ad has become a part of our lives. Often, the advertising slogans come into general use. For example: "Prawie jak ..." can be regarded as a great slogan, but not necessarily a good ad, which will increase the sells. Like the ads shown, you can admire the authors for the idea of. I can not support this research, it seems to me that people will know brand in the future could make the choice on this brand. For this reason, knowledge of the brand is the added value of this ad, which comes on balance plus.
In the next parts of the presentations it seems to me that was cool to see examples of failed advertising campaign:)

  2. 1. Nowadays you can not avoid the ads, I personally think that creative advertising evolved from the same ads that no longer attract the customer.

    2. The biggest ads are taking drastic as for example advertising Sopranos, everyone will turn back:)

  3. I'd like to show you one more thing from Saatchi & Saatchi:

I agree about the Sopranos, it must be pretty shocking at first :)

I think you can try to avoid advertising but you can never avoid them completely. Do you use Facebook? The adverts on Facebook find us themselves. The most interesting part of it is that we only see adverts chosen based on our personal preferences. This video shows how it works:

If you do use Facebook, tell me what you think, have you ever noticed that the ads you see for some reason don't seem random?

  4. I see many great projects here and I like all of them. It's hard to choose one, but I think that Kill Bill is the most impressive. I'm not sure if it would convince me to buy a ticket, but it's absolutely stunning. Also mini cooper event looks cute - what the adorable idea!

I'm so tired with commercials around me, that sometimes I don't notice them anymore. On the other hand, I create commercials, that's my job and... I like it :) The amount of really creative, interesting advertisement is little comparing to their huge quantity.

  5. I strongly agree with Jan. There is not an option to avoid commercials. There're everywhere. And I was terribly shocked when I saw that even boxers (you know, on the ring) are tattooed with ads.

On the other hand I'm really keen on good commercials projects. I saw hundreds of perfect created advertisements making a lot of feelings - mostly laugh. Also I've enjoyed few times in "Noc reklamorzerców" - whole night event taking place in Warsaw's Multikino dedicated for those who like commercials.
But I have them during TV programs. I've got a filling that now we have enormous commercial, from time to time disturbed by the piece of movie.

  6. Very cool ad. I will not say that I did not smile when reading this presentation :)

What do you think about subliminal advertising?

Do you think that it's influenced on you?
I say that it's don't work for me.
Although you never know what happens with your subconscious.

  7. I love the advertising of course if they are not intrusive;) Nowadys we don't even know that something is advertising and it's cool. Some keyword of advertising often fall into the normal language - and it;'s very funny;) Lot of advertising becomes more popular than the product which is advertises for example:
Popular TP advertisment with heart and the mind is great and we all want to have gadgets with them but still we don't want to have TP services ;)

  8. It's not the first time I'm commenting on the advert topic - I'll try not to repeat myself :) Personally I like commercials but only when I watch them on purpose. A good commercial is are either creative or simply entertaining by being funny. I've seen most of the adverts that you've presented, still I find them entertaining :)

During weekdays I don't watch TV because I don't have time for it. During weekends I simply couldn't care less what's on tele ;) Therefore once in a while I like to watch Noc reklamozercow to catch up on the best of commercials.

  9. Are you one of the people that enjoy adverts, or do you prefer to avoid them?

Avoid them to the point that I don't have TV and cannot stand watching more than 3 blocks of ads in one row (I'm talking about situations when I'm not at my flat but at family home or at my friend's house). I just purely hate ads. I avoid them for couple of years. They successfully disenchanted me from watching TV. And is it me or the ads are dumber and dumber the more time passes?

Why? Which of these commercials would be the most likely to convince you to buy the product?

The Kill Bill's and Soprano's one. But I love this movie and show so I don't know if I think straight and judge them objectively.

  10. I'm half-half. If ads are interesting (you shoved at this presentations that ads I know) then I'm enjoying these, but if these are so bored and interfere my life so I dislike these. I really dislike television wersion of ads.. because they always interrupt the movie at the best time! ;)

In second question I think it's connected with our personal needs ;) my most liked ads are: jobsintown.de, Kill Bill and mini chooper :) there are many diferent that I like, but now I dont remember..

  11. I am a person who rather avoid advertising that I can receive at home, especially those in TV are very annoying.

I like to watch a good advert, treating them like a kind of art. Some that you mentioned are really good:)but non of them convince me to make a purchase...

  12. Nowadays advertisements can be very annoying so I like if they are at least a bit more creative. I can’t say that I enjoy it I rather prefer to avoid them. I like adverts with people sitting inside coffee machines etc.

  13. On my PC I use 3 adblockers at the same time, because I really hate them. Overwhelming amount of adds makes current times sick. What is more adds don't really affect me. I am immune to them and when I need to buy something I read reviews in the internet etc.

  14. Today, ads are everywhere. We walk down the street we get flyers, banners are hanging over us, buses covered with ads. Surfing the Internet, or turn on the TV and we see ads. Because the ads are everywhere they are not working for me, but there are exceptions and if the ad is more interesting that calls my attention. The most interesting ads are with people inside machines and I like it :)
